Barista (M/W/D)

About us:
We are Kape de Filipina, a Philippine specialty coffee roastery based in Berlin. We grow and source single-origin coffees from the highlands of Mindanao, the slopes of Mount Apo, and the farms of Cavite — including a specialty-grade Kapeng Barako, a rare Philippine Liberica unlike anything else you'll find on a Berlin menu.
This June 2026, we open our first café at Dunckerstr. 12 in Prenzlauer Berg. No kitchen, no late nights. Just exceptional coffee, a handful of Filipino baked goods, and a small team that genuinely cares about what we serve and why.
We are looking for a barista who brings both skill and curiosity to the bar. Someone who can pull a precise espresso, talk through a single-origin filter with a guest, and hold their own behind a busy counter with warmth and professionalism.
What you'll do:
- Pull espresso and prepare filter coffee to our standards, consistently
- Maintain and dial in our machines at the start of every shift
- Guide guests through our coffee menu — origins, varieties, tasting notes — with genuine enthusiasm, not a script
- Handle retail bags and coffee accessories, and help guests choose what's right for them at home
- Keep the bar clean, stocked, and running smoothly throughout service
- Work closely with a small, tight-knit team to create a café environment we're all proud of
What we're looking for:
- At least one year of professional specialty coffee experience. You know how to pull a proper espresso, prepare filter with precision, and take care of the machines you work with.
- Eligibility to work in gastronomy in Germany — Anmeldung, tax ID, health insurance, Rote Karte (or a confirmed appointment for it).
- Availability from 8am, including weekends and public holidays.
- A real passion for specialty coffee and the curiosity to learn the stories behind Philippine origins. Guests will ask. You should be excited to answer.
- A warm, professional front-of-house presence. You enjoy people and know how to make a bar feel welcoming at 8:30 in the morning.
- Basic German is a plus — our guests speak a mix, and a few words go a long way.
What we offer:
- Fair hourly wage: Paid fairly for your skill and experience
- 100% of your tips: Every cent will go directly to you!
- Room to grow: We want to nurture a café manager within 12 months. That could be you.
- No late nights: Open 8:30–16:30, every day. No kitchen.
- Free coffee, of course! Plus discounts on food and retail.
- Be part of something from day one
